It is hard to believe that nearly fifty years have passed since we graduated together as the Class of 1977. Our 50th Reunion—taking place Thursday, May 20 through Sunday, May 23, 2027—offers a rare and meaningful moment to reflect on the lives we have built and the collective impact of a class that came of age during a time of profound social change. Over the decades, whether within families, communities, professions, the College, or the wider world, members of the Class of 1977 have made contributions through work, caregiving, service, creativity, leadership, learning, and friendship. This reunion is a chance to honor those paths and to reconnect—with one another and with Mount Holyoke. Our goal is ambitious but heartfelt: to welcome as many members of the Class of 1977 as possible to our 50th Reunion.
You may be wondering why our reunion will begin on Thursday, May 20, rather than Friday as in past years. Mount Holyoke has established a new tradition for the 50th reunion class involving what is known as our Connections Class—the graduating seniors. On Thursday afternoon, from 3:30–5:00 p.m., we will gather with the Class of 2027 and participate in a special ceremony during which we present them with their class scarves.
Our communications will be important throughout this planning process. For these reasons, we have set up a dedicated reunion email address ( use this contact form), which you can use at any time over the coming months to pose questions, suggest ideas, raise concerns, or offer to help.
There are two opportunities for you to give us your thoughts coming up.
· Within the next few weeks, you will receive a brief survey designed to help us get started. This is different from the past when a single, more lengthy survey was used to collect information. Our approach of short surveys targeted to topics relevant in the planning process will allow us to avoid overburdening anyone and to remain responsive to what matters most to you.
· We would also like to offer an early opportunity to connect live as a class. To make it easier for classmates across time zones and schedules, we will offer the same session at two different times. Please join whichever works best for you. These will be opportunities to see familiar faces, share ideas, ask questions about reunion planning or committee work, and simply reconnect.

Another key priority for us is to establish the committees that are needed to support our planning for the events of the weekend. We are seeking classmates who would like to volunteer to serve on a committee or step forward to chair one. Here is a list of the committees we are forming, along with brief descriptions of their roles.
Please do not wait to be “tapped.” The simple truth is that we do not know each of you personally, nor do we know the talents, skills, and experiences you have accumulated over the past fifty years. What we do know is that you were educated at Mount Holyoke, and that means you have something to contribute—and we look forward to having you join us!
We also recognize that, for some classmates, personal or logistical circumstances may make in-person attendance difficult or impossible. With that in mind, we are committed to exploring meaningful ways to connect classmates who cannot be on campus—whether through virtual participation in select reunion events or through online opportunities to gather and reconnect during the reunion timeframe. We are creating a committee specifically to focus on how we make this happen.
One hundred seventy-seven of us are already connected through our class Facebook group, Mount Holyoke College Class of 1977. If you haven’t already joined, please consider doing so. Alex Woody and her excellent communications team will be sharing updates on reunion plans and committee activities on our Facebook page along with our other communications.
We are honored to have been asked to serve as Co-Chairs of our 50th Reunion, and we approach this role with gratitude, enthusiasm, and a strong commitment to collaboration. We are grateful for the strong foundation built by past reunion leaders and volunteers, and we look forward to building on that work together. We see this reunion not as something planned for the class, but as something created with the class. Over the months ahead, we hope to hear from many of you—your ideas, your priorities, your energy, and, if you choose, your hands-on involvement. With broad participation, we can create a reunion that is engaging, meaningful, fun, and joyful for our class.
Thank you for being part of this remarkable class. We look forward to building and enjoying this reunion with you. With appreciation and excitement!
Your 50th Reunion Co-Chairs, Class of 1977
