Important Information About Our 50th Reunion

As we continue planning for our 50th Reunion, we’d like to share some information that may help you decide which housing arrangements will work best for you. While this information won’t apply to everyone, we are sending it to all classmates so that anyone with particular housing or accessibility needs has plenty of time to plan.

Because of the age and configuration of campus housing, and the limited number of rooms with certain features, the College cannot guarantee that every housing request can be accommodated. Here are some features of on-campus housing that may influence your decision:

  • Air conditioning – The residence halls assigned to our class will not have air conditioning. If air conditioning is essential for your comfort or health, we recommend reserving off-campus lodging. The College is also unable to provide personal fans.
  • Private bathroom – Only a limited number of rooms have private bathrooms.
  • Mini-refrigerator – A very small number may be available but cannot be guaranteed.
  • Microwave – Microwaves are available in residence halls for general use but are not available for individual dorm rooms.
  • Comfortable bed – Residence hall rooms continue to use standard twin beds, which some classmates may find less comfortable than hotel accommodations.

If these amenities are important to you, please see the list of local lodging options provided at the end of this note. We encourage you to reserve your preferred lodging NOW, (if other than on-campus dorm assignment). Our Reunion coincides with Mount Holyoke’s Commencement and events at several colleges nearby. Hotel rooms in the area are expected to fill much earlier than usual.

Staying On Campus—or Off Campus

One additional planning note: Residence hall assignments are typically finalized about a week before Reunion. Until then, we won’t know which residence halls our class will occupy, and individual room assignments will not be available until check-in.

We certainly don’t want any of this information to discourage anyone from staying on campus. Many classmates find that living together in the residence halls is one of the most enjoyable parts of Reunion because it creates opportunities for informal conversations, makes it easy to participate in class activities, and keeps everyone close to the latest Reunion news. At the same time, choosing to stay off campus will not diminish your Reunion experience. We simply want everyone to choose the accommodations that best support their comfort and enjoyment.

Personal Assistance and Caregiving

If you anticipate needing assistance with activities of daily living, mobility, medication management, or other personal care during Reunion, we encourage you to bring a family member, friend, or professional caregiver with you.

Please note that the College cannot provide personal care services, mobility assistance, medication management, or ongoing caregiving support during Reunion. Attendees are responsible for arranging and covering any lodging, meal, and related expenses for their caregiver or companion.

If you plan to bring a caregiver, please contact Luisa Tavares in the Alum Association Office to discuss caregiver registration.

Planning Your Travel

One important reminder: our 50th Reunion begins on Thursday, May 20, with class activities beginning that afternoon, including a special celebration with our Connections Class, the graduating seniors. This is a change from previous reunions, which began on Friday, so we encourage everyone to plan their travel accordingly. Reunion festivities conclude midday on Sunday, May 23.

We recognize that every classmate’s circumstances are different. Above all, we want everyone to have a wonderful Reunion, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to campus to celebrate this very special milestone together in May 2027!

Warmly,
