Next Book Club Discussion January 7th 8pm ET, The Lion Women Tehran

Good morning (or good evening wherever in the world you are!). First of all I want to thank Sue York for leading our discussion on a very interesting book, All We Ever Wanted by Emily Giffin on September 12th. We had such interesting discussions about white privilege, male compared to female roles and interpretations, social media impacts and much more.  And one of the highlights of the discussion was listening to a poem written and performed by 14-year-old Royce Mann, “White Boy Privilege”.   It was so pertinent to the story, and so impactful as we listened to it that I am including the link to it so you can listen for yourself.

And now we have our next Book Club Discussion scheduled for Tuesday, January 7th at 8pm ET, The Lion Women of Tehran, by Marjan Kamali.  And Lise Funkhouser  Paul will be joining me in leading the discussion. I am suggesting this book at the recommendation of one of my (non MHC) friends (yes I do have a couple!!!), who said it was an amazing story, really well written and a great book for a book club discussion.  And here is one of the many reviews on Amazon “This novel highlights two childhood friends in Iran of different demographics and political views. Character development is extraordinary as they narrate a heartwarming story of friendship, heartbreak, abuse and forgiveness. The historical timeframe spans 3 decades beginning in the 1960’s where women’s rights were non-existent. This is one of the best novels I have read this year and highly recommended as a book club option.”

So I am looking forward to reading this book and I hope you are too.  And I can’t wait to see everyone on Zoom on Tuesday, January 7th at 8pm ET, the link is below.

And we have several additional activities planned for the next few months, so stay tuned for more eblasts from me.

Enjoy the upcoming holiday,

With warm affection,

Liz
